Comcast verses Emergency Medical Response Systems

  • Mood: Excited!

Our Dad has cancer and a bad heart so on Wednesday May 14th we got him hooked up with Medline Emergency Response Systems. He was the first client in Manchester New Hampshire to use this service with Comcast digital services. They came over hooked it up and tested it. They were having problems with the response center 2waying the box so they said that when it did go off in future they would call the house like all emergency response systems do but for the service to work correctly we would need to have a regular phone line cause the system goes through phone lines not cable. So early yesterday morning around 4am (Thurs) I was getting offline and going to bed when all of a sudden after logging off the internet the emergency call box went off I rushed off the seat and ran to my dad in a panic. There he was sitting at the table innocent and startled that it went off he didn't even touch it he said. When they did the 2way we heard them trying to do it but no luck then after 10 minutes not receiving a call from response center I called dispatch and told them it was a false alarm. The emergency team and ambulance did show up and the records from Medline Personal Emergency Response Systems did show that they did call several times and it was ringing but it just wasn't ringing on our end. This Morning (Thurs 9AM) I received a call from them telling me what went on and that the black digital cable boxes Comcast has its not reliable. I could go on with what all of the conversation was but don't want to bore you I only want to tell you the technology side of it. I was told there are no governmental regulations for these boxes to be reliable with all Personal Emergency Response Systems and that cable companies like Comcast (digital) need to make these boxes reliable. So this is were all of my Yuwie friends and Yuwie Members including my newest friend from Perrills Talk the host of the show come in, we all need to work together to get the government to have these Cable Companies make these changes and soon. If we are allowed to call 911 on cell phones when there’s no service in the area than why isn't there for these boxes to receive calls for all Personal Emergency Response Companies out there, the elderly, the disabled vets who can't walk or get out need these boxes to be reliable so in an emergency when the pendant is activated the response team is able to 2way and call clients using the Digital Cable Boxes without any difficulties. So I’m starting up a petition to get the government to enforce it and need all of your help for the sake of your parents safety even your safety and sign this petition. In the next couple of days I will be updating this blog with the petition and Yguys answer but I feel I need to get the permission from Yguy to put it on there and to have a request form to receive the petition by email that would be easier for me I think were I'm busy with my job, dad, wife and me as I'm not in the best health either as most of my Yuwie Friends know with just getting out of hospital from bad respiratory infection. I know sending messages to me saying yes ad me to the list would be easy but it may be time consuming with inserting email addresses manually so I’m going to see if I can do it that way hopefully Yguy will allow it or just post link to a page I Thanked and Praised God that the emergency medical team came and that it was a false alarm and I was awake. "Halaughia Thank you Jesus"
